Mental Stress Causes Swing Breakdowns!

Your golf swing is not the reason why your performance is inconsistent. Stress is the reason. Believe it or not, stress impacts your golf swing in a big way and it's the reason why you perform one way in practice and another way in competition! 

When ANY player is in stress, cortisol and adrenaline are released in the brain and body.  Cortisol is a paralytic and it inhibits your motor cortex which is the part of your brain responsible for movement and firing motor programs i.e. your golf swing.  Plus, stress causes adrenaline to be released which will accelerate your heart rate.  The higher your heart rate gets the more your fine motor skills will get impaired. Mental stress is what alters your swing on the course. 

Consistency in golf comes from a player’s mental approach and their ability to manage stress. Nobody can fight their biology. When the brain is experiencing mental stress, the body cannot perform naturally or as it was trained. This is science. In order to bring out your best swing and performance more consistently it all starts in your mind.
